As businesses reopen and employees return to work during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s now more important than ever to improve safety precautions and reduce liability by following health guidelines through the sanitization of common areas and equipment. BuildingReports' recent update to SafetyScan will allow facility management professionals to track and provide verifiable reporting on disinfection efforts.
While the virus has been shown to be predominately passed from person to person by close contact, it is possible to contract COVID-19 and other respiratory disease from an infected surface by touching the mouth, nose, or possibly eyes after contact. Some projections as to how long the virus can live on various porous and non-porous surfaces have been provided by authorities, research is still underway to provide better guidance.

In healthcare, technology issues and communication problems can lead to more than an inconvenience or a slight business interruption. They can lead to treatment delays, medication errors, falls, or even sentinel events (unanticipated incidents resulting in death or serious physical or psychological damage).
Sentinel events can be debilitating to patients, families, and care providers. In addition to their health and emotional impacts, the financial effects can be devastating as well. But there’s good news: Many times, they can be prevented. According to 2018 data from The Joint Commission, more than 11% of sentinel events can be connected to communication errors.
BuildingReports is pleased to announce several updates that went live this week, many of which were requested by our network of over 900 Service Members. Unlike a full ScanSeries release, the updates reflected below to the mobile application will take effect once a building has been downloaded to a mobile device. These do not require an update to a new version via your service provider's app store.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The ScanSeries update includes the addition of Disinfected Surface Device Types for helping organizations track and record sanitization efforts as part of COVID-19, and beyond.
